She's getting married!

Sisters.

They are God's gift to you as you are to them.
I don't know what I would do without mine.  They have always been there and so  many of my favorite memories were made with them by my side.

The years have passed and we are not little girls arguing over who gets to sit in the front seat.  We are not little girls having slumber parties together taking turns reading our journals.  In fact, we don't even live together any more and our times together are way too short and far between.  But, despite the distance and changes in our lives, my sisters are my closest friends.  Their joys are my joys and their sorrows as well.

This past week, my youngest sister - the one whom just yesterday, Brooke and I referred to as being "SOOO twelve" - was engaged.  How did this happed?  Where did the years go?  How is my baby sister going to be getting married?  Yet, she is.

Next summer, she will be marrying the guy whom she thought was cute the moment she saw him at college registration.  And it will be another great memory made.  And Brooke and I will be there, smiling through our tears, and thanking God for the wonderful gift of sisters.

I love you, Lauren and am so happy for you and Matthew.  You make a wonderful couple and I look forward to the upcoming months of wedding planning!

Because I have a sister...

I always have a friend.

Sisters make the best of friends.

What's the good news if you haven't a sister to share it with?

How do people make it through life without a sister?

A sister is a friend you would travel hard to find
only she's been standing by you all along.

The best thing about having a sister is that I ALWAYS have a friend.

Happy 23rd Birthday to my partner in crime, confidant, wearer of my hand-me-downs, sister, and best friend.  Distance will never separate us in spirit; I love you with all of my heart and I treasure every moment we get together.  I hope you have a wonderful day and know that more than anything I wish I could spend it with you.
Love,
Your big sister

A visit to Ohio

A few weeks ago Jack and I were fortunate to have photographed a wedding in Ohio that was only 50 minutes from my sister.

She was a lovely host and we enjoyed staying in her apartment and eating her amazing food that she served us.  We also were happy that she could accompany us on our shoot!

We were able to eat at one of our favorite restaurants...Mongolian BBQ!

The bride and groom's portrait location was at a beautiful manor.
After their shoot was done we grabbed a few pics too :)

Love this goof! :)

Thanks for letting us stay with you Brooke - we had a wonderful time!!

PS  We love shooting weddings near Toledo, OH ;)

Snow Pictures!

We have had barely any snow this year and while we were up north visiting the family, we were blessed with a beautiful snowfall.

We needed a few portraits for a project anyway, so we ran outside and braved the freezing temperatures to get a few shots.

And even though we are the photographers, we like to give up our camera once in awhile and get some of our own special memories captured too! ;)

New Year's Recap

On New Year's Eve we decided to try a new recipe from off one of my Pinterest boards.
We tried this one with a few variations and loved, loved, loved it!

On New Year's Day we took a walk at Deep River County Park and snapped a few pictures of course.

Later that afternoon we picked up my sisters and brought them home with us for the next two days.

We had so much fun cooking up new things and playing an entire game of Monopoly which lasted four hours and ended with ME winning!  (I knew I always liked that game) ;)

Of course with 3 girls in a house there was sure to be facial masks, manicures and lots of giggling.

We thoroughly enjoyed having them with us and look forward to their next visit!
